Earlier this year, Hickman, who is a porter at a local airport, went to L&M Liquor in Hayward, California, around 30 minutes from San Francisco, on his break.

He decided to pick up a $30 "Set For Life!" ticket, and was shocked when he uncovered the word "life" after scratching it.

"It was the biggest rush I have had in my life," Hickman told the California State Lottery.

Hickman said he's going to use some of his winnings to buy his wife a home.

He said he also won $1,000 through the lottery before this huge jackpot.

The liquor store will get a bonus of $100,000 for selling the ticket.

OTHER WINS

Some states have jackpot winners who don't even have to leave their houses.

In Colorado, an anonymous woman won $3 million by playing on Lotto.com.

It was the biggest digital scratch-off win in history.

“I couldn’t believe that after two minutes of realizing I won the top prize, I received a call from Lotto.com letting me know they were on their way with the ticket,” she said.

“They are wonderful. I love the convenience of Lotto.com, especially because I live in a mountain town, and sometimes it’s difficult to get to the store with the weather conditions.”

Lotto.com is the nation's first online lottery platform to digitally deliver official state draw games and scratch tickets.

The first-to-market digital scratch ticker offering was only introduced three months ago in Colorado, Ohio, and Texas.

There's another lottery winner who made history recently, but he lost nearly half of his winnings to invisible payments.

Players should know that a massive portion of prize winners end up going bankrupt after cashing in.

Sometimes, this is because they opt for a one-time lump sum payment to get cash as quickly as possible before blowing it all in one place.

The players will start to create a lavish lifestyle for themselves, but not have enough money to sustain it.

Finance expert Robert Pagliarini told The U.S. Sun lotto winners only have "one shot" of making their prize last.

He said: "The real advantage of [taking] the annuity is that every year you get a new check."
