Who are Alex Collins' parents?

Alex Collins was the son of Andrea McDonald and Johnny Collins Jr.

While not much is reported on Alex's mother, his father also passed away in February 2023.

Johnny hails from Miami, Florida, and worked as a security guard before working for A&B Towing Company.

Seemingly Alex followed his father's footsteps as he also played football at Hallandale High School.

According to Johnny's obituary, he "always had a smile on his face with his glasses on the top of his head."

Apart from Alex, Johnny had five other children.

Alex Collins was an American football player born on August 26, 1994, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Alex played football, basketball, lacrosse, and track at the South Plantation High School in Fort Lauderdale.

Choosing football as his choice of sport, Alex went on to play collegiately at the University of Arkansas.

In 2016, Alex was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round of the NFL Draft.

Robert Griffin III pays tribute

Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III has taken to X, formally known as Twitter, to pay tribute to Alex Collins.

He wrote: "Alex Collins was so special man. Amazing teammate and a guy everyone was down to kick it with. This man invited me and wifey out one time in Baltimore and I will never forget it.

"We show up to the spot and AC is nowhere to be found. We are looking around for him for 20 min and finally I feel a little nudge on my shoulder.

"I turnaround and AC is walking behind me, drops his shades to his nose and signals with his eyes to follow him. It was so funny and smooth, we forgot he was 20 min late. AC told us he had to be discreet because he couldn’t have everyone knowing he was there.

"The rest of the night, we found out why. Everywhere AC went that night everyone knew him. Everyone was excited to see him, laughing when he came around and showing him love. You see everyone loved this man and his energy was contagious.

"To end the night, he hit this dance with all the fans watching him on the dance floor. WHAT A NIGHT and WHAT A GUY AC WAS. Shared more laughs than people know and I’m blessed to have been your teammate my brother. Rest In Peace."

What teams did Alex Collins play for?

Alex Collins joined the Seattle Seahawks in 2016, marking his entrance into the NFL.

The star would stay with the Washington team for a year before moving to the Baltimore Ravens.

In 2020 Collins would return to Seattle for his second stint with the Seahawks.

Teammate pays tribute following tragic death

NFL Comeback Player of the Year, and former Seattle Seahawks teammate Geno Smith, took to X following the devastating news.

"Life so crazy man. Fly high my boy until we meet again," he wrote, adding: "AK ALL THE WAY"

Another of Collins' former teammates, quarterback Robert Griffin III, also tweeted in memory of his friend.

"Can't believe Alex Collins is no longer with us," he said.

"AC was a real one. Prayers up for his family and loved ones."
