Former ESPN host Katie Nolan opens up on fan backlash and admits 'I was shocked by how much everybody hated me'

FORMER ESPN personality Katie Nolan has opened up about the harsh criticism she received while calling MLB games for Apple TV.

The 36-year-old former MLB Apple TV host revealed the severe criticism she received over announcing baseball games and expressed she "was shocked by how much everybody hated [her]."

Nolan detailed her experience in an interview with Dan Le Batard this week, calling out fans for their behavior, referring to it as misogynistic and regressive.

"Maybe I sucked at baseball, depending on what you were expecting me to do.

"But part of me is like, isn't that true of equality? If women can just go suck at something and still get to do it," Nolan stated.

She continued to express that baseball fans targeted her with hate and felt some of it came from her being a woman.

"I can tell you from reading the words that were written there was at least a little bit of misogyny in it.

"Because why are they bringing up that I'm a woman?

"Why is that coming up so often if it has nothing to do with the criticism?" she said.

Nolan also highlighted that the harsh words from fans began to affect her and made her scared to speak during the MLB broadcast.

"They're not realizing they're being cruel, and it's landing....

"I got torn apart that first week, and I didn't speak until like the 8th inning because I was so shocked by how much everybody hated me.

"And they reveled in it. They loved it. They celebrated that 'we got through to her. We hurt her.' And that was when I was like, whoa," Nolan said.

Nolan previously expressed that her role alongside Hunter Pence and Stephen Nelson was an awkward fit from the start, and it was announced last February that she was not returning to Apple TV.
