Horrifying moment a huge ALLIGATOR emerges from water and devours beloved German shepherd pup playing in her backyard

A MASSIVE alligator devoured a beloved German shepherd from her own backyard last week – and the horrifying moment was caught on camera.

The six-month-old puppy named Mia was running around in her owner’s yard on September 24 when suddenly an alligator emerged from the nearby lake and pulled her under.

Owner Dale Barberi told WESH that he came home from work to his home in Lake Kathryn, Florida, and couldn’t find her anywhere.

Barberi said he searched for her around his lakeside home and asked neighbors for help before he saw what happened in horrifying security footage.

“I went outside, started looking for her. Looked underneath the trees, looked underneath the trailer, looked everywhere, and couldn't find her,” the dog owner said.

The backyard surveillance video shows Mia running around with one of her German shepherd siblings when – seemingly out of nowhere – the alligator jumps out of the water.

The gator is seen quickly snatching the puppy and pulling her into the lake.

The video shows Barberi’s other three German shepherds, who are all related, waiting near the water, waiting for Mia to come back.

Barberi called the video “kind of shocking.”

“I’m kind of sad about it. The way that gator just took her and wow, he was huge and he was fast,” he said.

“Less than two seconds and my puppy was gone.’”

Mia’s remains were found on the other side of the lake days after she was taken, according to the news outlet.

Barberi said he’s swam and waterskied in the lake for years and has never seen an alligator there before.

But according to neighbors who live nearby and an alligator hunter, at least three huge alligators have been seen in the lake before.

Barberi said that at least one alligator hunter is working to find the gator who killed Mia the puppy.

The dog owner said he’s reported what happened to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
