In one TikTok video, in which the fitness influencer reminisces about her past, giving examples of people going viral for different reasons.

Then she shared her story of going viral herself, writing: “I went viral for exposing the flamingo pose.”

In the video, the fitness influencer recorded herself wearing a fitted workout outfit in front of a mirror.

Facing the side, her backside was in focus, noticeably with a round, toned butt.

Then she readjusted her stance, standing straighter and showing that her butt wasn’t actually that big.

Charlotte then placed the camera behind her while standing in her original pose. This showed that her leg furthest from the mirror was bent in a more lunged position, which helped lift her butt.

“Went viral for catfishing,” she wrote in the caption.

People had mixed reactions of amazement, disbelief, and some animosity.

“That’s why it’s pointless to compare yourself to anything you see on social media. You can create an illusion about anything. Literally anything,” someone commented.

“All the gym girlies do this pose for progress pics,” another person pointed out.

One person was especially shocked by this fact, writing: “I’ve been bamboozled! I didn’t know that it was that posed.”

In different follow-up videos, Charlotte further demonstrated how to do the pose to prove how effective and deceptive it is.

As she recorded herself through a mirror, text on the screen read: “Get close to the mirror, hide the other leg, twist, BANG.”

When she hid her back leg, she bent it to form a squat position, which emphasized her backside. She also twisted her waist more towards the back so most of her butt was in the frame.

And in another video, responding to a comment asking for proof of other people using the flamingo pose, Charlotte shared photos of another fitness influencer using it versus how she actually looks unposed.

“This is just one example of millions of people that do this pose frequently. Social media can be tough,” she wrote in the caption.

“People expect you to look [like] what society has decided to be the beauty standard, there’s so much pressure,” she added, defending people who use the pose yet calling out the harmful deception.

“Oh my god…I just realized that my progress is actually not that bad," one person added.

"I’d just been comparing it to unreal images online."
