I shared a bed with my 26-year-old brother & we snuggled to keep warm - my furious boyfriend accused me of cheating

A 20-YEAR-OLD woman who snuggled with her brother, 26, in bed to keep warm on a cold night has questioned whether or not she was in the wrong with her bedtime setup.

The anonymous woman took to Reddit's Am I The Asshole forum to share her story, explaining that her brother had decided to stay with her as he was doing some business near where she stays for college.

"I had a very busy and tiring day prior to his arrival though so I told him that I was going to leave the door unlocked and he could just come in as I didn't want to be woken up (he was supposed to get to my apartment at around 6 AM)," she wrote.

"My boyfriend left on Friday to spend the night at his parents' house because his mom was not feeling well. He knew that my brother was coming over."

Her brother arrived at around 6.30 am on the Saturday morning and tried to wake his sister "to no avail".

"He tells me: 'If you're not going to wake up, at least let me get into bed 'cause it's cold and I'm sleepy too'," she continued.

"I say okay and he gets in. We immediately fall asleep."

The next thing the siblings knew was her boyfriend's shouting waking them up at 10.30 am.

"He starts saying how this is 'basically cheating', asking if we had sex, if we're in an incestuous relationship, etc., that this is absolutely disgusting and mega inappropriate and other delusional things like that," she wrote.

"I tell him that we've always shared a bed while living at home and that this is 100% platonic.

"He lets me know that 'we were snuggling under the blankets while sleeping'.

"I tell him yeah, that's what people do when they share a bed and it's cold."

At this point, the woman started to "get really angry" with her boyfriend "trying to sexualise me and my brother's relationship".

"So I tell him that I'm going to spend the weekend with my brother at a hotel and until I come back he better learn how to manage this irrational jealousy of his," she added.

"I'm back at my apartment now but my boyfriend gives me the cold shoulder," she concluded.

The majority of comments on the post agreed that the boyfriend was in the wrong for accusing his other half of incest just by seeing her in bed with her brother.

"I think it's a little weird for adult brother and sister to snuggle, but the boyfriend is definitely the asshole for throwing a fit and accusing them of incest," one person wrote.

"It's even weirder that that's the first place his mind went."

However, others insisted the woman was in the wrong by sharing a bed with her brother - especially when there was an empty guest bed available, which had been mentioned in another comment on the post.

"Yeah I think it’s weird," someone else wrote. "I honestly wouldn’t share a bed with my brother.

"One of us could take the couch for the night. Definitely wouldn’t 'snuggle' in bed."

"I am very close with my brother but would never share a bed or cuddle with him," another added. "In some places it’s not normal."
