HOUSTON Texans quarterback CJ Stroud has worked his way into the record books in just four games of his NFL career.

The 2022 No. 2 overall's historic NFL start has the rookie quarterback leading Kansas City Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes and Philadelphia Eagles' Jalen Hurts in a statistical category.

Stroud has guided the Texans to a 2-2 start in 2023 after the team won just three last season.

He's coming off a Texans' 30-6 upset win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4.

The 6-foot-3 Ohio State product recorded 306 passing yards and two touchdowns in the matchup.

Through four games, Stroud has 151 passing attempts, six touchdowns and has yet to throw an interception.

That's the third-most passing attempts by a rookie without an interception to start a career, trailing Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott (176) and Miami Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa (152).

Stroud has more passing yards (1,212) than Pro Bowlers Justin Herbert and Josh Allen.

And his completions (94) are more than Mahomes and Hurts.

The rookie is also on pace to break the rookie passing yards record by more than 700 yards.

When it comes to what his future holds, Stroud expects plenty more out of himself.

"I think it's really cool when you see your work pay off a little bit, but for me, it's just the beginning," Stroud said after Sunday's win, via ESPN.

"It's a blessing, but I want to do more. I want to be great at this game."

Stroud was named an AFC Player of the Month in September.

He's contributed while missing numerous starters on the offensive line including star left tackle Laremy Tunsil, who's missed the last three games.

The Texans will face the Atlanta Falcons on the road in Week 5 next Sunday.
