THE Today show made an embarrassing blunder during a weather forecast on Saturday for the NFC Championship game between the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers.
NBC's morning TV program showed a graphic that named the wrong opponent for San Francisco in Sunday's NFL playoffs clash.

During the segment, meteorologist Michelle Grossman provided weather updates for the San Francisco Bay Area ahead of the NFC title matchup.
She stood by a screen, which showed a map of the US turned into a football field and a box detailing the predicted conditions at Levi's Stadium at the 6:30 pm ET kick-off.
It revealed that the game would be played in 62-degree weather with light winds and a partly clouded sky.
The graphic featured the Lions and 49ers logos – but wrongly stated that San Francisco would face the Green Bay Packers rather than Detroit on Sunday.

The error confused Grossman, who named the Packers as one of the teams playing in the NFC Championship matchup.
She then said she was hoping to see Green Bay face the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl LVIII.
Today host Peter Alexander then intervened, saying, "I should correct this because it should say Lions vs. 49ers."
Alexander also joked that rooting for the Packers would have been a good pick by Grossman, but they "don't have a shot" to make it to the Super Bowl anymore.

"They lost last week! I'm so sorry," the meteorologist hurriedly responded.
"I did watch that game, I meant the Lions."
NFL fans felt for the Lions as they commented on the blunder on social media.
"Whoever did the visual needs a coffee," one wrote.
"Da disrespect," another added.
"Lions totally get to play the 'no respect' card now," a third said.
"This is absolutely disgusting," one wrote.
The winner of the Lions-49ers clash will face either the Ravens or the Kansas City Chiefs, who face off in the AFC Championship scheduled for a 3 pm kick-off on Sunday.
