Old Navy confirms store hours will change for just one day in a few weeks and shoppers can start planning now

AS Americans will be sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner, others will be heading out.

Old Navy announced a change in its store hours for just one day and shoppers can experience the thrill of a deal.

So after you gobble up your Thanksgiving feast, you can work it off by running to the store.

On Thanksgiving day, some Old Navy stores will be open but it depends on where you live.

An Old Navy spokesperson told The U.S. Sun, "In general, almost all US Old Navy stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, 11/23. We will have a very small number of stores open in specific markets, including our West 34th Street store."

In New York City, the West 34th Street location will be open from from 12 pm – 6 pm on Thanksgiving Day.

The switch gives shoppers a jump on Black Friday deals.

Black Friday refers to the day after Thanksgiving and the start of the Christmas shopping season.

On Black Friday, many retailers will offer special deals for that day only, in addition to holiday sales.

Not all Old Navy stores have made the decision to open.

Several New Jersey locations will be closed for the holiday, including the stores in Edgewater and Paramus.

WHAT'S OPEN OR CLOSED

Many retailers are keeping shops closed for the holiday allowing employees a chance to have quality time with family.

Walmart said all stores will be closed.

This marks the fourth consecutive year the big box store will remain closed on Thanksgiving.

Target is following Walmart's lead and is also keeping its stores closed on turkey day.

Its CEO Brian Cornell said in a press release, "Several times, I heard how thankful they were that our stores would once again be closed on Thanksgiving."

TJ Maxx and its other brands like Marshalls, HomeGoods, Sierra, and Homesense will be closed the entire day on Thanksgiving.

Meanwhile, Old Navy's sister store, Gap, will remain closed during the day and open up in the evening.

The clothing retailer listed its store hours from 6 pm to 1 am on Thanksgiving.
