Super Bowl team jersey colors revealed - and NFL fans spot rarely-known stat that means it's bad news for Chiefs

THE NFL revealed the team jersey colors for Super Bowl LVIII between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.
And if it's any indicator, the Chiefs are in for trouble come Super Bowl Sunday.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, Kansas City's social media page posted photos of the team jerseys they'll wear this Sunday.
"All patched up," they wrote, with pictures of their traditional red home jerseys featuring this year's Super Bowl patch.
After the Chiefs team upload, ESPN's senior NFL insider Adam Schefter confirmed the 49ers would wear white.
In the comments, NFL fans were quick to point out a little-known Super Bowl stat regarding jersey colors that doesn't favor the Chiefs, noting teams that wear colored jerseys in the championship are 3-11 since 2010.

"Hmmm," one wrote, questioning the statistic.
"Will Mahomes beat another curse?" another asked.
"Bout to be 4-11," an enthusiastic fan said.
Looking back at quarterback Patrick Mahomes' career in Kansas City, this is his fourth Super Bowl appearance in six years as a starter.

The star signal caller has sported the red jersey in the big game twice, going 1-1, making this the decider.
He's an undefeated 1-0 wearing the white jerseys in the Super Bowl.
Last year, in Super Bowl LVII against the Philadelphia Eagles, Mahomes won in white.
The Chiefs lost the last time they wore red in Super Bowl LV against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
However, in 2020 for Super Bowl LIV, Kansas City defeated the 49ers 31-20 in red with San Francisco in white.
Interestingly, despite the worse record in colored jerseys, the Chiefs made the final say on the jersey colors.
Kansas City was the designated home team for the Super Bowl, meaning they were allowed first choice of what to wear.
The Super Bowl kicks off at 6:30 pm ET on Sunday, February 11, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
