They were last seen racing down South 2nd Street towards Jefferson Street at 9.44pm on Saturday night, police told Newsweek.
Authorities have said that all four of the teens are dangerous and should not be approached by the public.
The escapees were revealed to be Decorrius Wright, 16, Morris Marsh, 17, Brandon Caruthers, 17, and Calvin Howse, 15.
Collectively they face a range of charges including murder, gun possession and grand theft auto.
They went through a series of doors and exited to the outside.
Statement from Metro Nashville Police Department
In a statement, authorities explained that "at least 35 minutes elapsed" before local police were "notified of the escape."
They said: "The four were on a work detail when their staff supervisor left them to address a fight at another location inside the facility.
"They managed to get onto an elevator and used staff protocols to ride to the ground floor where they went through a series of doors and exited to the outside."
Wright, one of the men on the loose, is accused of murdering Kyle Yorlets, 24, alongside four other teens.
'MUGGING TO MURDER'
On February 7, he and the group allegedly stole a red Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck, according to charges filed to the State District Attorney.
The document claimed that they spotted Kyle, a musician, outside his home and mugged him.
It was reported that they took his wallet and then shot him after he refused to give them his car keys.
They were arrested that same day and two loaded stolen pistols were recovered by police.
'TOO DANGEROUS' FOR RELEASE
Wright, who is accused of being the shooter, was set a $400,000 (£309,000) bond by a judge.
The high figure was agreed after prosecutors argued that he was too dangerous to be released, NBCNews reported.
Fellow escapee Marsh was charged with the murder of 19-year-old Charlie Easley alongside another teen.
The victim was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds at his home in Point Breeze Apartments on April 8.
Caruthers was charged with armed robbery in August 2018 and his case has since been transferred to an adult court.
Howse was arrested for grand theft auto and gun possession charges on November 21.
