LOTTERY officials are warning players to check their tickets as a $100,000 prize is set to expire.

The Powerball prize was won in August, but that leaves just weeks left to claim the prize.

Someone purchased the lucky ticket at a gas station in Denham Springs, Louisiana, a city just outside Baton Rouge.

The numbers to look out for are 32, 34, 37, 39, 47, and a red powerball of 03.

The winner has until 5pm on February 10 to come forward.

State lottery officials said that if they find it, the winner should “treat the ticket as cash,” to make sure they don’t lose it once it’s found.

“It is also a good idea to sign the back of the ticket for security purposes,” Lottery President Rose Hudson told Fox/ABC affiliate KPLC.

HOW IT WORKS

Drawing games like Powerball or Mega Millions involve matching numbers on a purchased ticket to numbers on randomly drawn balls.

The first five numbers correspond to white balls, while the final number applies to the red Powerball.

Every few days, numbers are drawn.

There are nine ways to win money by playing Powerball:

  • Matching only the red Powerball or the Powerball with one white ball wins a prize of $4.
  • Matching three white balls or two white balls and the Powerball wins a prize of $7.
  • Matching four white balls or three white balls and the Powerball wins $100.
  • Four white balls with the Powerball wins $50,000.
  • All five white balls wins $1 million.
  • All five white balls and the Powerball wins the jackpot.

Multipliers allow the prize money to increase for a small additional fee at purchase.

The Louisiana winner matched four white balls with a x2 multiplier, bringing their winnings to $100,000.

MORE LOTTO

There are a number of unclaimed lottery tickets across the country.

One $1 million Powerball prize has gone unclaimed after the winning ticket was bought at Kroger.

An Arkansas Lottery player must come forward to get their prize by July 4.

Another prize remains unclaimed in Nebraska.

That prize will expire in days.
