MARRIAGE isn't always easy, but for Robert Shiver, whose estranged wife and her accomplices were charged with trying to have him killed, it was almost deadly.

Lindsay Shiver made headlines in July 2023 for allegedly conspiring to have her husband killed, leaving the nation shocked when Robert Shiver helped bail her out just weeks after her arrest.

Who is Lindsay Shiver's estranged husband, Robert?

Robert Shiver is from Thomasville, Georgia.

His father, Allen Shiver, was the CEO of Flowers Foods for over 40 years, eventually stepping down in 2019.

The company has a market capitalization of $4.76 billion as of December 22, 2023.

In high school, Shiver was an avid athlete and dreamed of competing in college.

He started his collegiate career as a walk-on football player at Auburn University, eventually earning a three-year sports scholarship.

By his senior year, Shiver was named team captain of the Auburn Tigers.

After graduating college in 2009, Shiver was signed as a free agent for the Atlanta Falcons.

The long-snapper's NFL career ended up not taking off, and he was released by the Falcons before the start of the season.

According to his company's website, Robert Shiver has worked at Senior Life Insurance Company since 2009.

As the company's Executive Vice President, Shiver "focuses on agent development, recruitment, and the strategic growth of Senior Life."

In 2010, Robert married Lindsay Shiver, whom he met in college in 2007.

The two welcomed three children during their marriage, Grayson, Landon, and Rhett.

On April 5, 2023, Shiver filed for divorce after allegedly discovering that Lindsay had been having an affair.

Obtained by AL.com, Shiver cited that he was entitled to a divorce "based upon [Lindsay's] adulterous conduct" in Georgia Superior Court records.

At the time, he was seeking sole custody of the couple's three children, and sole use of their marital home, a $2.5 million mansion.

The following day, Lindsay also filed for divorce, claiming that her husband was abusive and she felt unsafe in their home.

She cited that the couple's marriage was “irretrievably broken with no hope whatsoever for a reconciliation.”

Despite the ongoing divorce, by September 2023, Shiver had officially moved on from Lindsay and had a new woman in his life.

People first broke the news that Shiver was dating Savannah Chrisley, a reality TV personality and the daughter of Todd and Julie Chrisley.

She is best known for starring in her family's reality show, Chrisley Knows Best.

The duo, who have a 12-year age gap, confirmed their romance in November 2023 when Savannah shared a few snaps of the smiling couple on her Instagram.

She captioned the social media post: "Sometimes.... it just works" alongside a red heart emoji.

Who is Lindsay Shiver and what was she charged with?

Like her estranged husband, Lindsay is originally from Thomasville, Georgia.

Lindsay was a former beauty pageant queen in her youth, eventually being crowned Miss Houston County in 2005.

She was also a student at Auburn University, where she majored in marketing and was a member of the school's cheerleading squad.

Lindsay met Shiver during a college fitness class in 2007.

The duo married in 2010, just one year after graduating.

Lindsay went on to become a stay-at-home mom to the couple's three children, all boys.

The couple lived a relatively lavish lifestyle, which included a large mansion, a residence in the Bahamas, a boat, and even a private jet.

However, their marriage was far from perfect, and the two ended up filing for divorce just one day apart from each other in April 2023.

While most divorce proceedings don't go smoothly, not all of them include an arrest for murder-for-hire.

That was exactly the case for Lindsay Shiver, who, along with two accomplices, was charged for allegedly plotting to kill her husband in July 2023.

A week before her arrest, Lindsay, still in Georgia, called 911 after her husband refused to let her take the family's private jet to the Bahamas.

She told police that she feared for her safety due to her husband's reportedly violent past.

No one was charged in the incident, but Lindsay eventually made her way to the couple's vacation home in the Bahamas, allegedly to spend more time with her lover, Terrance Bethel.

During this time, she sent messages to Bethel and another man, Farron Newbold Jr., allegedly plotting Shiver's murder.

As reported by Chicago's ABC 7 News, Lindsay sent photos of her husband, Robert Shiver, to Newbold, along with the message "Kill him."

Police officers in the Bahamas uncovered the plot while investigating a break-in at a local restaurant, Grabber’s Bar and Grill in Guana Cay.

They came across WhatsApp messages that showed Lindsay conspiring with her alleged lover, Bethel, and the alleged hitman, Newbold.

Police quickly located and arrested the trio on July 21, 2023.

After spending 19 days in custody, Lindsay was released from prison on August 9, 2023, on a $100,000 bond.

According to Fox 5 Atlanta, "prosecutors withdrew their objection" to Lindsay's release after speaking with her husband, Robert Shiver.

She was also ordered to wear an ankle monitor with GPS tracking capabilities, and remain in the Bahamas.

Both Newbold and Bethel were released on $20,000 bonds.

As reported by USA Today, friends of Bethel and Newbold say the accusations are baseless.

Their friend Raoul Simms said: "All of this murder plot, Faylo doesn't know anything of that. It is just something that was blown out of proportion."

He added: "And it only got this kind of attention, not even because of Americans, but because of the status of these Americans."

On December 21, 2023, a Bahamian judge ruled that Lindsay Shiver could return to the US until her trial begins in March 2024, but she's prohibited from traveling to Georgia

Where is Lindsay Shiver now?

On Thursday, December 21, 2023, a judge ruled that Lindsay Shiver was allowed to return to the United States for the holidays.

The Bahamian judge did provide a few conditions for the release, including that Lindsay wear an ankle monitor for the duration of her stay.

She is also prohibited from traveling to the state of Georgia, where her husband and three children still reside unless it is required for her to attend court proceedings related to her divorce case or custody battle.
